St Paul’s! I hope you’re all well! Happy 4th!
I spent the week of the 4th camping in the beautiful hills of southern New York, Allegany State Park. Our family and two other families rented cabins right next to each other for the week (I don’t like tent camping. Why would anyone want to sleep in a sweaty sock with children for a week? Pass.).
Every night was perfect sleeping weather, except last night when a storm of bud-light drinking 50 year olds swept in and decided to relive their twenties. They went hard till 3am-ish. That wasn’t the most tranquil night.
My family has been coming to this state park since I was a child (at least 30 years). In some ways it has been the most constant place in my life. I can always count on these hills and these lakes. The sun dripping through the green leaves; the constant smell of camp fire; and eating off of dirty plates and with someone else’s spoon! It’s camping. The rules of life change. (And I can always count on one nearby cabin being full of knuckleheads. All part of the deal!)
I’ll be back this Sunday and I’m looking forward to seeing you there. We’ve got great things in store for the coming September and beyond. Stay tuned for more! I’m excited!
See you soon!
